Rubén Dario Gómez always dreamed of owning a coffee farm. Growing up in the remote hills of Caicedo, he left school early, and spent over a decade travelling across Antioquia, working as a coffee picker.
Eventually, Rubén saved enough money to buy a small parcel of land near the remote village of La Noque. The farm had steep inclines and cool temperatures, and was widely considered unsuitable for coffee. Friends and family urged him to reconsider. Rubén laughs when he recalls his response: "I really had no choice."
Thankfully, Rubén persevered – and the coffee thrived! Today, Rubén farms two hectares of coffee alongside his wife, Rosa Eleny. Together, they have worked tirelessly to expand their coffee plantation, continually innovation and investing in their farm and its infrastructure. We are thrilled to share El Faldón with you – it’s a coffee that is shaped by decades of dedication, hard work and care.
