Our latest filter lot from Sonia Diaz is something special. Grown high in the hills of Northern Peru, it brings together two standout varietals – Gesha and Marshell – for a super clean, elegant cup that reflects the care and precision behind it. Sonia’s farm, Nuwa Senchi (meaning ‘strong woman’ in the local Awajun language), is tucked away in the lush mountains of Lonya Grande. Here rich soil, cool nights and quality processing come together to create something worth slowing down for.
Sonia isn’t your average coffee grower. With a background in systems engineering and marketing (yep), she took a leap at just 22 to co-found her own farm with her brother – choosing high-quality varietals and focusing on specialty from day one. She now leads the charge at Gocta Coffee, mentors other young producers in her community, and was even part of the Cup of Excellence Peru 2024 jury.
