This Washed lot was produced by the Colbran family’s Baroida Estate in Papua New Guinea. It’s soft and fragrant, with notes of cola and dried fig, sugarcane sweetness and a refreshing lime finish.
This is our 5th year buying coffees from Baroida. Founded by Ben Colbran and now run by his son Nichol, Baroida Estate is located in the Eastern Highlands of PNG. The farm sits high in the Lamari river valley, at 1,700-1,850masl, where ideal conditions and meticulous farming practices yield some of the region’s most exciting lots.
The Colbran family has been cultivating coffee here since the 1960's and continues to lead with a blend of traditional know-how and forward-thinking sustainability. Baroida is one of PNG’s most respected estates – and this lot is another perfect example of why.
For their Washed lots, cherries undergo careful pulping, fermentation and washing under the Colbran family’s long-standing estate system. The result is a coffee that isn’t just the exception in PNG – it’s a standout example of what washed processing can bring in a traditionally natural-dominant region.
